Dr. Andrew Ekblad, Ph.D., C. Psych.
Dr. Andrew Ekblad is a Psychologist and Project Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University. He has over 10 years of clinical and research experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Dr. Ekblad has presented original research at international conferences and published research articles on DBT, personality disorders, substance abuse and mentoring. He is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at the University of Waterloo. In addition to ongoing clinical and research work, Dr. Ekblad works in private practice in Guelph and Toronto.
Dr. Andrew Ekblad is a clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience in research, application and training other health care providers in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). His previous work includes the development of a suicide risk management protocol for responding to chronically suicidal individuals in hospital emergency departments. He is also 1 of 4 clinicians in Ontario who have been officially certified by Dr. Edna Foa as a supervisor of trainees in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for trauma.
Dr. Ekblad is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at McMaster University and an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Waterloo. He regularly trains and supervises a range of health care professionals including those in university, community and hospital settings and leads educational seminars and workshops on BPD and DBT throughout Canada. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University and completed his pre-doctoral internship at CAMH.
